How Accurate is Smodin’s AI Detector?

Smodin officially claims industry-leading accuracy, saying its detector can identify human writing with 98–99% confidence and AI-generated text with over 90% accuracy. It also emphasizes features like real-time scanning and multi-language support, which suggest a strong technical backbone. 

But we wanted to see how well those claims hold up in practice. 

To do this, we ran a series of tests using different types of text: pure AI, a mix of human and AI, and AI content that had been “humanized” through another rewriting tool.

Test 1: Pure AI Text

Setup:

For the first test, we generated a short essay directly with ChatGPT-5, making sure no human editing or rewriting was involved. This gave us a clean example of fully AI-written text.

Results:

Smodin’s AI Detector flagged the text as 100% AI-generated.

Observations:

This result matched expectations. Since the sample was entirely AI-written, Smodin correctly identified it without hesitation. For students or writers worried about submitting pure AI drafts, this test shows that Smodin is highly sensitive to unedited machine text.

Setup:

Results:

Setup:

For the final test, we took the 100% AI essay from Test 1 and ran it through QuillBot’s Humanizer in basic mode, which rewrites AI text to appear more natural.

Results:

Smodin flagged the rewritten text as 93% AI-generated and 7% human-written.

Observations:
